<image:caption>Lotto Home 1999 A shirt worn only twice and never by the seniors, this is one of few photos of the rare Lotto template. The shirt graced Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground for a B team fixture in 1999, with us beating Northern Ireland 1-0. It’s design is a reverse of the yellow away shirt from the previous year that was worn by the seniors against Denmark.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kappa Home 2000 Essentially a stopgap shirt worn twice by the senior squad in two 3-0 friendly defeats to Brazil at home and Portugal away, Kappa’s first Wales shirt was a stunner. The central badge could well be a call back to Admiral’s shirts of the late 1970s or the Umbro away worn during Bobby Gould’s disastrous reign during the mid-90s. Following Euro 2000 where Italy debuted Kappa’s Kombat 2000 shirt template, a new shirt was provided for our 2002 World Cup qualifiers.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kappa “Third” 2007 Unlike the previous entry from Kappa, this shirt was available to purchase as a replica and is seen by many as one of the best to come from the skin-tight era of shirts. Designed as a one-off shirt to celebrate the 130th anniversary of international football at The Racecourse Ground, the likes of Craig Bellamy and Chris Gunter donned this shirt for a 2-2 draw against New Zealand in 2007 at the spiritual home of Welsh football.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Adidas “Third” 2017 After the FAW raised concerns to UEFA about a potential colour clash for our away tie against Moldova, Adidas quickly created an alternate strip only to be worn for this game. Ramsey and Robson-Kanu scored late on to secure a 2-0 win and we all hoped that we’d get an official release of a cracking shirt (we didn’t). A fair few ended up making their own with iron-on badges but all hope wasn’t lost when Classic Football Shirts put a few player issue shirts, shorts and socks on their site in 2020.</image:caption>

Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Shlug, can’t wait for more of their tunes to drop. 3 dream festival headliners: That's almost impossible, this’ll probably change tomorrow but for today it’d be Deftones, Kano and Against All Logic. An underrated band/artist: Blackhaine, I doubt he’ll be underrated for long but he’s making some of the freshest and sickest music I’ve heard in time. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Au Seve by Julio Bashmore, throws me back into one of the maddest raves I went to, I miss raves a lot. Go to album when you’re down: Admiral Fell Promises by Sun Kil Moon, always does the sad for me if I need it. Go to record to get you worked up: Time & Space by Turnstile whenever I’m training. A lyric that resonates with you: “Desperately clutching onto a leaflet on depression, supplied to me by the NHS, it’s anyone’s guess how I got here, anyone’s guess how I’ll go…” from Jobseeker by Sleaford Mods Follow Minas on Twitter. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: Manic by Halsey and Hunky Dory by David Bowie Favourite Welsh language album: Sugno Gola - Gwilym, every song is a banger! Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Fyny ac yn ôl - Gwilym Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Catty from Dusky Grey recently released her first solo record and I’m in looooove with her voice. 3 dream festival headliners: Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus, Halsey An underrated band/artist: Yours Truly are an amazing band! A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Disconnected by 5 Seconds of Summer, reminds me of when I first moved to Cardiff from the valleys and started college, felt so good and so free! Such great memories! Go to album when you’re down: Honestly, any One Direction album = instant serotonin hit! Was and still am a massive fan! Go to record to get you worked up: Demidevil - Ashnikko A lyric that resonates with you: ‘Don’t belong to no city, don’t belong to no man’ from Hurricane by Halsey, I have those words tattooed on my arm, from the first time I heard those lyrics, to screaming them at her concert and listening to it on the bus I've always connected to them. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. It’s the greatest album ever written. Favourite Welsh language album: Y Dydd Olaf gan Gwenno Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Probably ‘1, 2, Kung Fu!’ by Boy Azooga. I’m constantly revisiting that album. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Thoroughly enjoying Thallo’s new material. 3 dream festival headliners: Hard choice! I guess I’d have to go with Brian Wilson, Fleet Foxes and maybe Syd Barrett-era Floyd. An underrated band/artist: In regard to a Welsh band, KEYS are one of the best Welsh bands ever in my opinion. Otherwise, I’d single out The Shins – they’ve been hugely influential on me. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Red Eyes by The War On Drugs at Green Man. I remember chilling out on the banking at the back, with a Growler in hand, thinking ‘Could this be cooler?’ Go to album when you’re down: If I’m looking to wallow then Nick Drake’s ‘Pink Moon’. If I want to lift my spirits, then maybe Max Roach’s ‘Drums Unlimited’ or ‘Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On’ by Funkadelic. Go to record to get you worked up: The Battle Of Los Angeles by Rage Against The Machine! Tell me that doesn’t pump you up and I’ll tell you you’re a liar. <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #23 - candelas</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: '...Like Clockwork' - Queens of The Stoneage. This is probably the most played album when we're in the van playing gigs. The sound they get on their records is just another level, then you see them play live and it sounds exactly the same! They're just a super group with the best drummer on the planet playing for them. Favourite Welsh language album: 'Pwy Sy'n Galw' - Big Leaves. This album is the reason we play music and why we started playing in bands. Such a tight four piece with guitar and vocal melodies to last for another hundred years. It's also hard to find a better rock vocalist on a Welsh record than Rhodri Sion. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: '1, 2, Kung Fu!' - Boy Azooga. Obviously your Super Furries, Manics and Catatonia come to mind when thinking about this category. But today, Boy Azooga has just knocked everyone out of the park with this album. Such an exciting, hard working band and even better that they're from the capital city! Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Not really new but 'Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18' have released 2 records, the first out in 2019. It's amazing to hear Welsh lyrics on Brazilian style music and I think it really works. If you get a chance to see them live, go for a boogey! 3 dream festival headliners: I'd get the party started with Elvis, imagine him walking on stage and straight into 'Suspicious Minds'. Next up, Queen. Freddie Mercury. Enough said. Then party all night long with Chic for at least two hours. (By the way Steely Dan are playing in the after party on the top floor of Clwb Ifor, don't tell anyone) An underrated band/artist: Dafydd Dafis - he was a Welsh language artist and sadly passed away in 2017 at the age of 58. He had an amazing voice and could play the saxophone like no other. He definitely hasn't had the recognition he deserves and I believe we should have a national Dafydd Dafis day. My birthday is on the 9th of September... from now on it'll be Dafydd Dafis Day and everyone wakes up and listens to 'Ty Coz' on repeat. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Being around 15 on the school bus and discovering 'Lover, You Should've Come Over' by Jeff Buckley. I felt emotions I had never felt before, the parameters of my world just shifted, I had just found the best artists in the world and no one else knew about him...JEFF BUCKLEY IS HUGE OSIAN AND IT'S CALLED PUBERTY MATE. Go to album when you’re down: 'Blue' - Joni Mitchell. I lost my father suddenly in 2014 and it still hits me to this day. So my therapy when I'm driving is listening to this album, then quickly stick the song 'Both Sides Now' on full volume, cry my eyes out, job done, feel a million dollars. Go to record to get you worked up: 'Puzzle' - Biffy Clyro. Just stick it on and listen to the intro. You'll be fired up and ready to face anything. A lyric that resonates with you: 'I'd trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday' - Kris Kristofferson (but sung by Janis Joplin). It was my fathers favourite lyric and it's so f****n true. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: Screamadelica by Primal Scream. Just an amazing album, loved it since I was a child, my brother had it taped on cassette. An amazing moment in time captured on record. I must have bought this album about half a dozen times over the years. Favourite Welsh language album: Mas - Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18 is a fairly recent album I listen to a lot. As a dysgwr, it's accessible lyrically as well as sounding great. Really good to hear the Welsh language over a different style of music. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: The Hunt for Meaning - MC Mabon. A complete mash up of an album that I always go back to. Just paints a picture of Wales for me. No fire without a fire within! I love that Gruff Meredith stood for election in Newport West a few years ago. Check out his manifesto, he should have got more votes. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: 'Boyo' (@BOYOWORLD) check out his new one, 'Raw Pap' Fresh for 2021. Alternatively Robert Frederik - vibes from the Newport tribe. 3 dream festival headliners: Surgeon's headlining, supported by Top Buzz in the main room whilst Boards of Canada are in the chill out room. I can't settle in either room and spent most of the time talking to a couple from Ramsgate. That's the dream. An underrated band/artist: Task Force - don't really get talked about outside of the UK hip hop scene, where they are rightfully loved, but they should be known by a wider audience. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: I'll give you two for the price of one - Six Foot Seven Woman by Foster and Allen and Catch Me If You Can by Brendan Shine are the soundtrack to my childhood. I'd like to share these with you too so that you too can enjoy these masterpieces. Go to album when you’re down: Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 Just listen to it and you realise music is the greatest thing on earth. Go to record to get you worked up: Young Fathers are my probably my favourite around at the moment. Plenty of tunes to get you worked up. Maybe their DEAD or White Men Are Black Men Too albums. Or one song would be Pon Mi Nozzle by Cutty Ranks. In fact loads of Cutty Ranks. A lyric that resonates with you: Best to end with something light so..... 'Death is a junction in the road that leads nowhere to nothing forever. It's over your body in the ground but ideas need no vessel. Don't decay but refine and echo and echo and echo...' <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #21 - james cuff (welsh music podcast)</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: That’s such a hard one to answer and it probably changes on a weekly basis. But, I’d have to go with Oasis’ classic debut, Definitely Maybe. I say that Noel Gallagher taught me how to play guitar which isn’t technically true but, this album changed my life and made me pick up a guitar. I still get shivers down my spine when I hear the intro of Rock N’ Roll Star. Favourite Welsh language album: Has to be the Furries’ lo-fi masterpiece Mwng. We produced a documentary episode of the Welsh Music Podcast celebrating its 20th anniversary last year and it reminded me, not that I needed it, how important an album it is. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Another one that’s almost impossible to answer but it has to be another Furries one - Guerilla. It’s an eclectic collection of songs and a seamless musical journey at the same time. It’s so upbeat and the singles are pop perfection. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I really liked what I heard from Gwenllian Adwaith’s other project Tacsidermi with their debut single Gwir and looking forward to hearing more from them. 3 dream festival headliners: SFA, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Adwaith An underrated band/artist: 3 Hwr Doeth. North-Walian hip hop collective on the Noddfa label. Peerless outsiders ripping up the rule book. Biji biji bo! A song that reminds you of a particular memory: One Day Like This by Elbow reminds me of my wedding day. We got married in Central Park in New York and had a classical guitarist playing it as my wife (to be at that point) walked down the makeshift aisle. Go to album when you’re down: Guerilla. Go to record to get you worked up: Nirvana’s Nevermind never fails. A lyric that resonates with you: I should say ‘If you’ve lost your faith in love and music, the end won’t be long’ from The Libertines’ song The Good Old Days. I had it tattooed on my arm after going through a difficult time to remind me of the importance of music and friendship which helped get me through it. But, I’m going to say ‘O ma bywyd mor braf’ which means ‘life is so beautiful’ in Welsh and comes from Yws Gwynedd’s absolute banger ‘Sebona Fi’. Yws is a legend. We had him on the podcast and he talked about wanting to write the most positive song in the world ever, after going through a difficult time. It’s a joyous tune and you can’t help but sing along to that line with a beaming smile on your face. Maybe I need a new tattoo? <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #20 - ffion wyn (ladies of rage)</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: Ask me this question every 6 months and you’ll get a different answer. A couple that will always be in my Top 5 though are Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ and Big Mama Thornton with the Muddy Waters Blues Band. Favourite Welsh language album: A toss up between Hei Vidal! by Ffa Coffi Pawb, and Hen Gelwydd Prydain Newydd by Tystion. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Pop Negatif Wastad – big up my mate Efa for managing to get me a copy of this legendary record when I moved to Cardiff around 2013/14. It’s one of my most prized possessions. A Welsh cult classic. I’ve also got to mention ‘Care City’ by Deyah. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I know she’s not necessarily new to the scene, but I do feel like she consistently re-invents herself and for that I have to say Eadyth! Not only that but have you heard the Mas o Ma EP with Izzy Rabey? Welsh neo-soul at its finest! Also, Demzie - a rapper from Pwllheli with the quickest flow. She's one to watch! 3 dream festival headliners: Prince, Janis Joplin, Joy Division An underrated band/artist: Noname – lyrically heads and shoulders above the rest. Every track she puts out makes me fall in love with her all over again. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Professor Longhair’s ‘Going to the Mardi Gras’ reminds me of my time in the Deep South in 2015, I managed to land in New Orleans as Mardi Gras was kicking off and I’ve never experienced anything like it. Go to album when you’re down: The second half of Gladys Knight & the Pips’ ‘Feelin’ Bluesy’ album. Those songs really let me marinate in my sadness. Proper catharsis. Also, Madlib sampled my favourite song off the album ‘Don’t Turn Me Away’ on his track ‘Anthenaginao>> (?)’ and it’s the best 1 minute 34 seconds of my life. Go to record to get you worked up: This frequently changes too. I tend to get fired up by new music that captivates me. Currently, ANYTHING by Coventry rapper Pa Salieu gets me gassed. His debut mixtape ‘Send Them to Coventry’ was my favourite release of last year. A lyric that resonates with you: ’Queens come in all shapes and colours, though we sit on thrones we don't look down on each other’ a line from the Rapsody x Queen Latifah track ‘Hatshepsut’ and a motto to live by! <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #19 - Y DAIL</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: Swoon by Prefab Sprout. A masterpiece. A work of art. Some of the best poetry and music ever written can be found on this record. It’s just so startlingly original; thirty-something years on, it still sounds like it comes from the future. Favourite Welsh language album: I could choose Mwng, which is an entire world, but I’ll go with Lle Dwi Isho Bod by Tynal Tywyll. Perfect pop tunes. I love Ian Morris’s voice. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Colossal Youth by Young Marble Giants. A minimalist, haunting record full of shadows and surrealism. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Mêl and Tacsidermi 3 dream festival headliners: Ivor Cutler, The Monks, Holy Modal Rounders An underrated band/artist: The Sonics – they made the first ever punk record, Here Come the Sonics. Their music shakes you and rattles you. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: I remember hearing Editions of You by Roxy Music when I was 6. Eno’s synthesizer solo sounded like elephants escaping from the zoo. In a good way. Go to album when you’re down: Mahler’s 9th Symphony, an epic treatise on death and mortality. What’s wrong with the occasional melancholy hour-and-a-bit? That, or Low by David Bowie. Go to record to get you worked up: Paul’s Boutique by the Beastie Boys. An electrifying record. A lyric that resonates with you: In the event/That this fantastic voyage/Should turn to erosion/And we never get old – Fantastic Voyage, David Bowie Follow Y Dail on Twitter and Instagram Listen to Y Dail’s playlist below and follow Alternative Wales on Spotify</image:caption>

<image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #18 - JACK PERRETT</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: It’s hard to pick my favourite album of all time as there are so many I love. I’ll say ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ by Arctic Monkeys. It was released when I was 12/13 and really got me turned on to guitar music. Favourite Welsh language album: Regrettably I am not a Welsh speaker. But I have seen Adwaith perform several times and really enjoyed their tunes of their album ‘Melyn’. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Goldie Lookin’ Chain – Greatest Hits. ‘Roller Disco’ being my favourite track off the album. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Finding Aurora. They’ve got a new tune out at the moment called ‘Last Call’. A band to look out for I think. 3 dream festival headliners: The Beatles, Nirvana and Notorious BIG An underrated band/artist: The Twang A song that reminds you of a particular memory: The Beatles – Hey Bulldog. I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was about 18. I’d been listening to The Beatles for as long as I can remember but never came across this tune. I had it on repeat for about a month after first hearing that opening riff. Go to album when you’re down: Boy Azooga – 1, 2, Kung Fu Go to record to get you worked up: Sex Pistols – Never Mind The Bollocks A lyric that resonates with you: “You're fearless and brave - you can't be stopped when you're young. You swear you're never ever gonna work for someone, no corporations for the new age sons. Tears of rage roll down your face but still you say ‘it's fun’” The Jam – When You’re Young. The lyrics to this song are so relatable I think. It’s a song that I wish I’d written myself. <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #17 - TOM AUTON</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: Royal Blood - How Did We Get So Dark? Favourite Welsh language track: Gwenwyn - Alffa. I heard this on one of Spotify’s biggest rock playlists and couldn’t believe they added a Welsh language song to it. Massive respect to them, hopefully the first of many. Favourite track by a Welsh band/artist: Last Call - Finding Aurora. Raw and full of energy. Plus the bridge riff is huuuuuge. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Rebecca Riots, they’ve got some killer songs in the pipeline, super excited to hear more from them. Dream festival headliners: Royal Blood, Muse, Kasabian (2019 edition) An underrated band/artist: Ariel Posen, one of the best new modern guitar players I’ve heard. That guy shreds on slide guitar. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Green Day - Good Riddance. This was the first song I fell in love with as a kid. I saw it live when I was 10 years old and decided from then on that I wanted to become a musician (after I became an astronaut, and a football playing fireman of course). Go to album when you’re down: I rarely get down, but if I do, I’ll want lifting right back up again. So for that reason I’d go to ‘These Streets’ - Paolo Nutini. Some proper feel good songs on that record, A song that gets you worked up: This is so easy for me: Amsterdam - Nothing But Thieves. That chorus should be classed as a lethal weapon. Always gets me psyched for a show. A lyric that resonates with you: ‘Moving on and getting over, are not the same it seems to me’ - John Mayer. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: I always struggle to answer this question as there are so many amazing albums out there! But one album that I've listened to and loved since I was a baby is 'Nevermind' by Nirvana. Favourite Welsh language album: One Welsh album that's been on repeat for me since it's release in 2018 is 'Mae'n Hawdd Pan Ti'n Ifanc' by Mellt. Another one has to be 'Sugno Gola' by Gwilym. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I've been really loving a Cardiff based band called The Rotanas at the moment! As well as a Welsh language band called Lewys. 3 dream festival headliners: Has to be Fleetwood Mac, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys! An underrated band/artist: A band from London called Outer Stella Overdrive, they're a mix of indie, punk and alternative. I can't wait to get to one of their gigs once they're back on! Another London based band that I love at the moment is Lock-In, an indie-pop band who's just released a banger called 'Get Over It'. A musician called Otto from South Wales is also phenomenal, his single 'Tell Me Something (I don't Know)' is so good and always on repeat. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: 'Hey There Delilah' by Plain White T's. When I was younger, about 3/4 years old, I used to sing this song to my dad before he went away for a long time as he's in the army, so it always reminds me of my dad. Go to album when you’re down: 'Punisher’ and 'Stranger In The Alps' by Phoebe Bridgers, to be honest, I have these albums on no matter what mood I'm in. Go to record to get you worked up: 'Harry Styles' by Harry Styles and 'Tango In The Night' by Fleetwood Mac. A lyric that resonates with you: 'Remember everything will be alright. We can meet again somewhere, somewhere far away from here' , a line from 'Sign Of The Times' by Harry Styles. I believe it's quite a peaceful lyric and emphasises that there is hope no matter what's going on in the world or in your personal life, which is something that's good to remember during these weird times. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: I’m gonna say Counting Crows - Hard Candy. I discovered them mainly by accident as Ben Folds was originally supposed to support them at CIA but he pulled out. But Leon (TPTP singer) was a big Counting Crows fan and I had my ticket so I decided to still go and that concert started a whole journey of musical discovery and they are now probably my all time favourite band. Favourite Welsh language album: This might be a bit of a cop out as unfortunately I haven’t listened to much Welsh language music (please forgive me!) but The Joy Formidable released a 10 years anniversary edition of their debut album “A Balloon Called Moaning” and the additional tracks were Welsh language acoustic versions of the original album and they sound amazing! Had the pleasure of seeing TJF many times at festivals back in the day, such an anthem is sound. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Manic Street Preachers – Everything Must Go. One of my earliest memories is seeing the Manics with my family at CIA and I think I’ve seen the Manics more than any other band and it’s always a great day out with mates. For a band to completely change direction and come up with an album like EMG after Ritchie went missing and after The Holy Bible album is just insane. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I’m gonna be completely biased here and say Leon Stanford (TPTP singer) haha. He’s just released his debut EP “Fear Is Heavy” and it’s a completely different style from the band. More singer/songwriter and soul and he’s been getting some great support from BBC Radio Wales, make sure you check it out! 3 dream festival headliners: Prince/Johnny Cash/Stevie Wonder. Been lucky enough to see Stevie Wonder 3 times but I’ve always been jealous of my brother who saw Prince at one of his 02 gigs years ago. An underrated band/artist: The Airborne Toxic Event. Again one of my favourite bands who I discovered by accident again as I only went to see my mates band, Cuba Cuba, at Cardiff Barfly as they were the support band. Think me and my mates were like “oh let’s stick around for a couple of songs for the headline act in case they were any good” and they blew our mind! Couldn’t have been more than 50 people there at the time, then a year or 2 later they are on the David Letterman show! They are still around now and their most recent album “Hollywood Park” is both a concept album and memoir about the singers life being brought up in a religious cult called Synanon. Highly recommend! A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Bit of a laugh for this one but Frankee – F U Right Back. During the summer last year me and a bunch of mates would meet up at the local field (socially distanced) with a bunch of cans and just get pissed. And one of them randomly decided to chuck this song on which we hadn’t year for literally more than a decade and somehow we all still knew the words and were gleefully singing along. It’s a stupid one I know but we can’t wait to get back on that field when it’s a bit warmer! Go to album when you’re down: Sigur Ros – Hvarf - Heim. Considering all their lyrics are in Icelandic and I have no idea what they are singing about, their music is just so emotive. This is coming from one of the most emotionless people you’ll ever come across too. Go to record to get you worked up: The Hellacopters – By The Grace Of God. Absolute no shits given high adrenaline rock n roll. I’ve tried running to this and I’ve gotta try my best to not start off too fast paced otherwise I’d run out of gas whilst listening to this album as I’m not the fittest person in the world by any stretch of the imagination! A lyric that resonates with you: “And on the streets tonight an old man plays, with newspaper cuttings of his glory days” from If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next by the Manics. The song is a lyrical masterpiece in itself but that one line has always resonated with me. It just makes me think of the possibility of being that old man in the future looking back at what I achieved over the years and being that guy in the pub who talks about glory days. To be honest, I’d take that…as long as the pub serves good beer! Follow Tyla on Twitter Listen to Tyla’s playlist below and follow Alternative Wales on Spotify</image:caption>

We’ve heard bits and bobs and we’re really excited) Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: Endaf Emlyn - Salem Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Pypi Slysh and Y Dail 3 dream festival headliners: The Band, Carole King and The Clash An underrated band/artist: Paul Westerberg from The Replacements doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Graceland by Paul Simon always reminds us of Glyn’s brothers old band, Blaidd. They would add a half-time section over the lyric “and she said, losing love is like a window in your heart”. Go to album when you’re down: Paul Williams - Bugsy Malone The Original Soundtrack. It’s healing powers are over 9,000!! Go to record to get you worked up: Tenacious D - Tenacious D. This is what we listen to pre-gig to psychologically prepare. A lyric that resonates with you: Iggy Pop - "I’m bored, I’m the chairman of the board”. When we first heard it we just thought it was a great opening lyric. <image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #10 - ADERYN</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie. I'm obsessed with the drum sound. Favourite Welsh language album: Mai by Georgia Ruth is the musical equivalent of sitting in a summer garden, the simple instrumentation and her voice are just this perfect delicate combination. Favourite record by a Welsh band/artist: So many! I really like The Non-Stop EP by Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard that came out last year. That’s a band I’d love to see live. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I think Twst is releasing some really fresh sounding stuff at the moment. The other artists on the Forte program with me this year are also all super talented musicians. 3 dream festival headliners: Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Sons of Kemet. It’d be a weird festival but I’d be into it. An underrated band/artist: Sorcha Richardson, IDER, and Soccer Mommy are all great songwriters. They have a really confessional, personal song writing style which I love. I'm a big fan of well thought out lyrics. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill is a song that transports me back to being 17, playing drums in an all female grunge 3 piece. It was a really fun time of just finding out how much chaos you could get away with on stage and how much fun live music is. Go to album when you’re down: If I want to feel all the feelings it's usually a case of putting on something like Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See and lying on the floor in a music coma. Go to record to get you worked up: Lizzo - Cuz I Love You. That album is all killer no filler. I can’t wait to see what she releases next. A lyric that resonates with you: I love all Courtney Barnett’s lyrics, she has this great meandering, stream of consciousness song writing style with these surprising little details. In ‘Pedestrian at Best’ there’s this great verse where she half shouts “I'm a fake, I'm a phoney, I'm awake, I'm alone, I'm homely, I'm a Scorpio”. I am actually a Scorpio so I always love shouting that line out when I'm listening to the song. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: Bob Marley - Exodus Favourite Welsh language track: Gwilym - Catalunya Favourite track by a Welsh band/artist: Captain Accident - Summer Day With You, beautiful Welsh reggae! Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Captain Accident have been around a few years now but don't get anywhere near the recognition their music deserves. Gwilym, on the other hand, are a relatively new band from North Wales who make the most listenable music - even if, like me, your Welsh language skills are sbwriel! Also, a special shout out to one of my best mates who's one to watch out for in 2021: Louise Bamford aka LouBams - she's got an incredible voice, Pembroke Dock's answer to Amy Winehouse! Dream festival headliners: Bob Marley and the Wailers - before my time but they played at Ninian Park in '76 which would have been my dream gig. I saw the Wailers (only the guitarist Aston 'Family man' Barrett is still in the line up) in an ancient Roman amphitheatre in Croatia a couple of years ago… I cried my eyes out, it was like a spiritual awakening. Although, I love my drum n bass and there's nothing better than dancing your ass off to Brazil's DJ Marky! An underrated band/artist: Captain Accident A song that reminds you of a particular memory: 'One Step Beyond' by Madness instantly takes me back to Cardiff City's first promotion to the Premier League - at the end of the game against Charlton at CCS there were fireworks going off around us as 20k people partied on the pitch, incredible! Go to album when you’re down: Bob Marley, the Best of. I know the best of albums are usually scoffed at but, for me, that best of album is one of a kind… Bob Marley provided the soundtrack to my childhood! A song that gets you worked up: I use music to chill me out rather than work me up but I defy any Welshmen not to be fired up by Yma o Hyd or, of course, Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau - the best anthem in the world! A lyric that resonates with you: 'One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain; Hit me with music' - Bob Marley's lyrics from Trenchtown Rock, sums up the human attachment to music - what a lyric! Taylor Swift is just the best, I think she’s one of the great storytellers in music. Favourite Welsh language album: Adwaith - Melyn Favourite album by a Welsh band/artist: Anything from David Alexander because he was my grandad’s favourite, he’d always play his albums in the car. Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Adwaith! They’re class girls and the music is sick. Dream festival headliners: Simon & Garfunkel, Taylor Swift and Billie Holiday An underrated band/artist: Girls Aloud. We should treasure them. Listen to Sound of the Underground - it’s got this surf-rock guitar like something from a Tarantino movie, it’s got drum and bass, it’s so good! I lose it when it comes on at Dirty Pop in Clwb. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Don Henley - Boys of the Summer. It was back when I was living in America, it came on the car radio on a hot day in Missouri and me and my friend Olivia yelled every lyric of it together. Go to album when you’re down: Kanye West - Late Registration. Kanye’s early albums have had so much influence on me. The song Gone makes me proper happy. An album that gets you worked up: Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da Corner. This made my brain explode when I was a kid. Go to album when you’re down: Tom Waits - Closing Time An album that gets you worked up: Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R A lyric that resonates with you: “You'll never make enough money, and no one cares about the things you do, you're gonna wake up some day, and wish you got a job” The Nude Party - Chevrolet Van Follow Los Blancos on Twitter and Instagram Listen to Los Blancos’ Welsh Music Prize nominated album, Sbwriel Gwyn Listen to Los Blancos’ playlist below and follow Alternative Wales on Spotify</image:caption>

<image:title>CONTENT - THE ALTERNATIVE WALES SOUNDTRACK #4 - KLIPH SCURLOCK - DRUMMER (THE FLAMING LIPS, GRUFF RHYS)</image:title>
<image:caption>All-time favourite album: Ooh, fuck, that’s tough. I’d say Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World or Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity or Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti Favourite Welsh language album: Right now it’s Endaf Emlyn - Syrffio (Mewn Cariad) Favourite album by a Welsh band/artist: Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World Favourite new Welsh band/artist: I can’t think of anyone current I like more than Adwaith Dream festival headliners: If we’re going pure fantasy, I’d say MC5 in 1970, Deerhoof today and Cheap Trick in 1978 An underrated band/artist: Why the MC5 aren’t universally hailed as being one of the greatest bands to ever set foot in a recording studio, I will never know. I also don’t know why Kris Kristofferson’s first 3 albums aren’t mandatory listening for anyone who ever considers writing a song. A song that reminds you of a particular memory: I recently listened to Prince - Around The World In A Day and I can still remember the first time I heard that record. I convinced my dad to drive me to Mother Earth Records to get it on release day. I was an obsessive Prince fan at that point and was so excited he had a new album out, especially since Purple Rain wasn’t even a full year old yet. The 15 minute drive from the record store back home was painful because I wanted to hear the record so bad. I can still even remember how the brand new cassette smelled. Anyway, we get home and I run down to my bedroom and slap it in the cassette player and - what the fuck is this?! I loved it, but it was such an unexpected turn after such a major hit album. I’ll never forget that first moment of that first wobbly sounding keyboard starting off with all this weird percussion coming in immediately afterwards. I really thought that was an amazing thing that he followed up a bazillion selling album with something so different and he earned eternal respect from me that day. Go to album when you’re down: Stevie Wonder - Innervisions or Neil Young - On The Beach. Depends on if I want to be brought up or revel in the gunk of depression. An album that gets you worked up: If I want to get fired up to take on a task I’m not looking forward to, the self titled Last Poets album or Ice Cube - Death Certificate. If it’s to get jazzed up to go out for an evening or I just need an extra boost in the morning, Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed is a good one. A lyric that resonates with you: “Come to lucky-in-lovin', I never had no complaints. They never said I was evil, but then, I wasn't no saint. I'm just a river that rolled forever and never got to the sea. I ain't blaming nobody; I had it coming to me.” Kris Kristofferson - Kiss The World Goodbye Follow Kliph on Twitter and Instagram Watch Kliph on S4C’s Curadur from last Thursday. We supported MR (Marc Roberts) in the last gig that we played, at the Selar, Aberteifi. Marc's guitar broke whilst in the middle of this iconic song, so Bedwyr was luckily at hand to quickly throw his guitar over, but I think he may have been disappointed as it was falling apart and covered with an obscene amount of Hyll stickers! <image:title>CONTENT - A MESSAGE FROM AGENT PHILLIPS</image:title>
<image:caption>Dear Sir, I am writing to bring to your attention the availability of my client, Jeff Tap. Jeff is a strong, no-nonsense defender who can play in the libero/sweeper role or as a more traditional centre back. He is a very strong defender who is capable of tackling a horse, should he need to. In fact, in a training session, he once headed a medicine ball over a leisure centre. At 6 foot 4 and 10 stone, he is seen by some in the game as a bit lightweight but he more than makes up for this with his aggression. He was once described by the Western Mail as the most dangerous man to come from the Gwent valleys. Please don’t let the fact that this story, which had nothing at all to do with football, put you off. It was just a misunderstanding and he just so happened to find himself in the same place as 12 unconscious policemen. We won’t dwell on that. He started his career in the Bristol Rovers academy before a transfer to Rochdale’s academy shortly before his 17th birthday. He made several appearances for Rochdale’s first team between suspensions and was loaned to Limavady United in the Northern Irish Premiership, helping them qualify for their first European adventure. His loan was extended for the European campaign, where he was named man of the match against Neftchi Baku. It was in this game that he became a household name. His rhino-like charge sent the Azeri club’s striker flying over the advertising hoardings and into the portacabin club shop placed inexplicably close to the touchline. Such was the force of the tackle, the striker flew through the portacabin causing it to partially collapse. The delay of the game put the Baku side off their stride and enabled Limavady United to hang on to a famous win. Jeff was unfortunately banned for some time due to that incident. He was even being threatened with extradition to Azerbaijan at one stage. Rochdale felt they had no other option but to cancel his contract. Despite his promise, Jeff was unable to find a club due to being on Interpol’s most wanted list for causing a partial stadium collapse. He was last signed with Mynydd Llandegai, a place where he thought he would be able to play without attracting too much attention. He has managed to keep his head down and has played a vital role in the teams fight against relegation. He only managed to accrue an 8 game suspension for an incident during a game at Llandudno Junction that led to a derailment of a train. He would fit in to your side as a sweeper, his ability to bring the ball out from the back and play a killer pass is second only to his ability to get on the wrong side of the law. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Agent Phillips Find me on Twitter: @walesworstagent</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hometown: Waunfawr Club You Support: Chelsea and Bangor 1876 First Wales away: Cyprus, 2015 Wales away caps: 12 Favourite Wales away trip: I’m going to go with an obvious answer here and say the Euros but specifically Bordeaux. It was absolutely unbelievable seeing Wales fans left, right and centre. I don’t think there was a single pub without a Welsh fan in! It just felt totally surreal being in the stadium and hearing the anthem being played at the European Championships! That was easily one of the best moments of my entire life and will take something massive to beat it. Favourite Wales away memory: This is a hard one really as there are so many. Having a 2 week holiday in California for the Mexico game was amazing and I even got to visit Mickey Mouse so that was a bonus! Favourite all time player: Hal Robson-Kanu, don’t even need to think about it! One essential Wales away item: I mean, if you don’t say a bucket hat, you’re not doing Wales away right. <image:caption>All-time favourite album: The Beatles - Revolver Favourite Welsh language track: Adwaith - Lan Y Môr, I saw them play earlier this year for Horizons Cymru and they were phenomenal! Favourite track by a Welsh band/artist: Trampolene - Alcohol Kiss Favourite new Welsh band/artist: Panic Shack Dream festival headliners: The Kinks, The Beatles and Dizzie Rascal An underrated band/artist: Rod Temperton. I’m a huge fan of disco and love his songs, there’s nothing better than dropping his tracks during a DJ set A song that reminds you of a particular memory: Step On - Happy Mondays. I was at a gig a few years back and Bez pulled me on stage to dance with them, best moment ever! Go to album when you’re down: Blur - 13. I always dramatically belt out Tender at the top of my lungs A song that gets you worked up: Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400. It reminds me of the incredible rush of being at a Wales game and it is such a banger! A lyric that resonates with you: "Living is easy with eyes closed, Misunderstanding all you see" From 'Strawberry Fields Forever' by The Beatles. It’s a beautiful quote from Lennon. Although I've heard many rumours of it meaning other things, I've always interpreted this as not seeing the truth makes life easy because you don't have to think about it and deal with it, you can just pretend everything is fine.
